Man Killed in Six-Vehicle Crash Near Fashion Island in Newport Beach
A 68-year-old Newport Beach man was killed following a serious six-vehicle collision near Fashion Island that shut down a major intersection for hours as investigators worked to determine what happened. According to authorities, the driver’s vehicle crashed into multiple cars stopped at a red light on San Miguel Drive near MacArthur Boulevard, triggering a chain-reaction collision involving several other vehicles.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene and provided immediate medical aid before transporting the driver to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Another person was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, while several others involved were treated and released at the scene.
