James Beard–Winning Chef Tyson Cole Brings Uchi Sushi to Newport Beach

Renowned chef and restaurateur Tyson Cole will open the first Orange County location of his acclaimed Uchi sushi restaurant in Newport Beach in 2026. The new venue, set at 2510 West Coast Highway just steps from Newport Bay and Lido Isle, will mark the eighth Uchi globally and the first in the county. The 175-seat venue, including a bar and omakase counter, will showcase seasonal omakase, hand-crafted sushi, sashimi, yakimono, and specialty dishes in an elevated yet approachable setting.

Known for inventing a progressive take on Japanese cuisine, Uchi debuted in Austin in 2003 and has since expanded to cities like Houston, Dallas, Denver, West Hollywood, and Miami. This upcoming Newport Beach outpost is expected to build on that legacy with its own unique local flair and upscale design.
