K‑9s, SWAT, and Community Fun: National Night Out Returns to Newport Beach

On Tuesday, August 5, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., the Newport Beach Police Department will hold its annual National Night Out event at Bonita Canyon Sports Park (next to Field 4) at 1990 Ford Road 92660. This community-building evening aims to foster neighborhood camaraderie and strengthen partnerships between law enforcement and residents.

Attendees can expect interactive exhibits featuring the CSI team, SWAT, K‑9 units, Animal Control, and the Mounted Unit. There will be informational booths covering crime prevention, drug awareness, home security, child safety, the Citizens’ Police Academy, and volunteer policing programs.

Families can enjoy free food, crafts, games, photo opportunities (don’t miss McGruff the Crime‑Fighting Dog!), and demonstrations designed for all ages.

This is part of Newport Beach PD’s ongoing outreach initiatives to build connections in a positive, informal setting. For more information, contact the Crime Prevention Unit at (949) 644‑3699.
