Pickleball for a Purpose Raises $95,000 in Newport Beach for First-Gen College Students
Held at the Newport Beach Country Club on April 3, the annual Pickleball for a Purpose tournament brought together local players, philanthropists, and community leaders for an afternoon of friendly competition—all in the name of educational equity. Organized by the nonprofit KidWorks, the event raised $95,000 to support first-generation college students through academic programs, mentorship, and career readiness initiatives.
The day featured round-robin matches, lunch, wine, prizes, and a student-focused presentation celebrating the impact of KidWorks’ College Success Initiative. Programs like College Apps Academy and Campus Crash, which provide personalized coaching and campus exposure for high school students in Santa Ana, were spotlighted throughout the event.
Organizers praised the Newport Beach community for stepping up with generosity and enthusiasm, making this year’s fundraiser one of the most successful to date.
